FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of generating a description of a sound field. Method includes generating a first sound field description indicating a sound field relative to a first reference location, and a second sound field description indicating a sound field relative to a second reference location, wherein the second reference location is different from the first reference location. Metadata associated with spatial information of the sound field are generated. Metadata formation involves determining at least one of the first geometric description for the first description of the sound field and the second geometric description for the second description of the sound field as metadata. At that, the first description of the sound field, the second description of the sound field and metadata containing at least one of the first geometrical description and the second geometric description, constitute an improved description of the sound field.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of efficiency of sound field formation.
