SUBSTANCE: device for processing a sound field presentation associated with a predetermined reference point or a predetermined listening orientation for the sound field presentation comprises a sound field processor for processing the sound field presentation using the deviation of the target listening position from the given reference point or the target listening orientation from the given listening orientation, when this produces a description of the processed sound field that, when rendered, provides the impression of representing the sound field at a target listening position that is different from the given reference point, or for a target listening orientation that is different from the specified listening orientation. By processing the sound field representation using a spatial filter, a processed sound field description is obtained which, when rendered, provides the impression of a spatially filtered sound field description. At the same time, the sound field processor (1000) is configured to process the sound field representation in such a way that a deviation or a spatial filter (1030) is applied in the spatial transformation area having an associated direct transformation rule (1021) and an inverse transform rule (1051).

EFFECT: creation of an improved concept of processing the representation of the sound field associated with a given reference point or a given listening orientation for the presentation of the sound field.
