METHOD FOR DETERMINING CALCITONIN AND CANCER-EMBRYO ANTIGEN IN PUNCTATE FOCAL LIVER FORMATION Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC G01N33/574

Abstract RU 2736693 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to oncology, and discloses a diagnostic technique for metastasis of medullary thyroid cancer to the liver. Method involves liver trepan-biopsy by 18G needle with length of 20 cm with intake of tissue formation column, then biopsy material is placed into flask with 10 % formalin and sent for morphological examination, used needle is washed in 1.5 ml of 0.9 % NaCl solution as follows: needle is placed on syringe, volume 10 ml, in which 1.5 ml of saline is pre-injected, saline is blown through a needle into a test tube, then from a test tube into a syringe – procedure is repeated at least 5 times, calcitonin and CEA concentrations in the flushing liquid are then determined using an immunochemical technique, and if calcitonin > 100 pg/ml, and CEA exceeds the serum level, the diagnosis of medullary thyroid cancer metastasis to the liver is confirmed.

EFFECT: disclosed method enables diagnosing metastases of medullary thyroid carcinoma in the liver with high accuracy, within an hour to diagnose, reduce costs for immunohistochemical examination of the biopsy material.
