FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an aqueous binder which bonds mineral fibers to a mineral fiber article, containing mineral fibers in contact with the cured binder, and a method of producing the article. Described is an aqueous binder composition for mineral fibers comprising component (i) in form of one or more carbohydrates, for example in form of glucose syrup with DE from 60 to less than 100, in particular from 60 to 99, component (ii) in form of one or more compounds, selected from sulphamic acid, sulphamic acid derivatives or any of its salts, as well as component (vi) in form of hypophosphorous acid and optionally component (iii) in form of ammonia. Preferably proportion of component (ii) is from 0.5 to 15 wt % in terms of component (i) weight, component (vi) content is equal to 0.5–10 wt % in terms of component (i) weight, fraction of component (iii) is 0.1–5 molar equivalents relative to sum of molar equivalents (ii) and (vi).
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is obtaining a binder composition which is especially suitable for binding mineral fibers can be obtained in an economical way, shows good ability to bind mineral fibers during production of mineral fiber products and includes renewable materials as raw material for preparation of aqueous binder composition.
