FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to binding compositions for mineral fibers and obtaining mineral wool. The use of a composition that does not contain formaldehyde as a binder for mineral wool is proposed, where the composition contains: at least one phenol- and/or quinone-containing compound, at least one protein, where the content of phenol- and/or quinone-containing compound is from 1 to 70 wt.% of the dry protein weight. The specified at least one protein is selected from a group consisting of animal proteins, including collagen, gelatin, hydrolyzed gelatin and protein of milk (casein, serum), eggs; and polyphenol proteins, such as mussel leg protein. The binder composition is capable of curing at a temperature in the range of 5-95°C. A method for obtaining a product from mineral wool includes stages of bringing mineral fibers into contact with the binder composition and curing the binder. The product from mineral wool is obtained by curing the composition.
EFFECT: increase in the mechanical strength of the composition, while reducing the curing temperature.
