FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aqueous binder composition for mineral fibres. Composition of aqueous binder for mineral fibres contains: component (i) in form of one or more compounds selected from a group consisting of L-ascorbic acid, D-iso-ascorbic acid, 5,6-isopropylidene-ascorbic acid, dehydroascorbic acid and/or salts of said compounds, selected from calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium or iron salts; component (ii) in form of one or more compounds selected from a group consisting of ammonia, piperazine, hexadimethylenediamine, m-xylylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, triethylene tetramine, tetraethylene pentaamine, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine and/or triethanolamine; component (iii) in form of one or more carbohydrates selected from a group consisting of dextrose, starch molasses, xylose, fructose or saccharose. Disclosed is a product and method of producing a mineral fibre-based product which includes steps of introducing mineral fibres into contact with said aqueous binder composition and curing the binder composition.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a binder composition for mineral fibres, the starting materials of which are renewable, which makes it possible to economically manufacture the binder.
