SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of environmental protection and can be used in bioindication of atmospheric air. Estimation of air pollution by higher plants is carried out by comparing averaged values of modules of difference of fractal dimension of right and left part of leaves. If the obtained value differs from 0.05, presence of air contamination of the investigated area is determined.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to determine degree of contamination of atmospheric air by difference of fractal dimensions of fluctuating asymmetry of halves of birch leaves.
