FIELD: special metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electroslag or vacuum-arc remelting of metals and alloys and can be used in melting of ingots from nickel and titanium alloys. In process of electrode remelting crystallizer is supplied to lower end of melted ingot along its axis an ultrasonic signal, by means of which actual depth of liquid metal bath is determined, value of which is introduced into the ACS regulator of the electric furnace as a control signal and controlling the depth and shape of the liquid metal bath by comparing real data obtained from the sensors, installed in zone of crystallizer pan, and preset parameters introduced into ACS controller, note here that in case of molten metal bath deflection from electrode symmetrical relative to longitudinal axis of molten ingot, electrode is shifted in opposite direction till elimination of said deviation.
EFFECT: invention allows direct control over the depth and shape of the liquid metal bath, which improves the quality of the surface of the molten ingot.
