FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: slag bath level sensors are arranged in crystalliser wall, and remelting is performed using an additional power source and two seeds for heating of peripheral zone of slag bath, which are arranged horizontally opposite each other in the crystalliser wall near end faces of consumable electrodes; with that, the additional power source is parallel connected relative to the above power source with formation of two independent electric circuits, each of which includes one of the consumable electrodes, slag bath, seeds arranged in the tray and seeds for heating of peripheral zone of slag bath; with that, during melting process of seeds arranged in the tray to lower part of the molten ingot there disconnected is electric circuit between slag bath and seeds for heating of peripheral zone of slag bath, and when a signal on available imbalance in melting speeds of consumable electrodes is received from slag bath level sensors, electrode melting speed is increased with lower burial into slag bath at simultaneous reduction of electrode melting speed with larger burial till imbalance is eliminated.
EFFECT: invention allows quick elimination of imbalance at remelting of consumable electrodes and improvement of molten metal quality.
