FIELD: electrometallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrometallurgy, namely to vacuum arc remelting of highly reactive metals and alloys, and can be used in melting ingots from titanium alloys. The method for vacuum arc remelting of titanium alloy ingots of VT3-1 brand includes the final remelting of the consumable electrode, consisting of the initial melting period, the main melting period and the end of the melting process - removing the shrinkage cavity. The main melting period is carried out with an arc current from 9 to 11 kA and an established arc gap of 8-14 mm, maintained with an accuracy of ±0.5 mm. An ingot is obtained, the structure of which is characterized by the absence of zonal segregation.
EFFECT: chemical homogeneity in the ingot is also ensured.
