FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of metal complex catalyst based on imino-amide π-allil complex of nickel, which is active in polymerization of styrene, on an industrial scale. Method of producing catalyst for polymerization of styrene involves reacting imino-amide π-allil complex C18H18N2Ni with tributylphosphine and styrene in molar ratio Ni:P:styrene = 1:1:100, respectively, wherein the process is carried out in a toluene solvent at temperature of 20–25 °C.

EFFECT: technical result consists in obtaining an active polymerization catalyst of styrene, which is not sensitive to presence of air and moisture.
