FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing trans-1,3-diphenylbutene-1 via oligomerisation of styrene in the presence of a catalyst. The method is characterised by that the catalyst used is cationic palladium complexes of general formula [(acac)Pd(L)2]BF4 (where acac denotes an acetylacetonate ligand, L is diethylamine, dibutylamine, morpholine) combined with boron trifluoride etherate as a cocatalyst. Components of the catalyst system react at temperature of 25…50°C, atomic ratio B:Pd=5:1. Total conversion of styrene to oligomers can reach 1.9-104 moles styrene per g-at Pd with dimer selectivity of up to 99.9%.
EFFECT: use of the present method enables oligomerisation of styrene to trans-1,3-diphenyl-1-butene with selectivity of up to 98.9% of the overall mixture of reaction products.
