FIELD: electrical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: in multiphase electrical network, powered by power source, short-circuit point (460) to ground is determined by power supply source, synchronized with electric network, which is connected between network zero point and grounding. In short-circuit current compensation mode (420), control unit controls alternating voltage source, to compensate for any earth fault current in the electrical network to a value below a threshold level. In short-circuit detection mode (430), control unit gradually adjusts output voltage of AC voltage source relative to amplitude and/or phase angle (440). Variation of zero sequence current and total conductivity of zero sequence between AC voltage source and short circuit point is measured (450) by means of at least one sensor. At least one sensor is connected to the control unit to communicate and registered measured values, which represent residual sequence current and/or full conductivity of zero sequence, control unit. In short-circuit detection mode, control unit determines short-circuit ground location (460) based on at least one of said measurement values, representing zero-sequence current and/or zero-sequence conductance variations, at which the exposed branch is disconnected (470) or the system switches to mode (420) of short circuit compensation.
EFFECT: technical result is increase in short circuit currents elimination reliability and quick action.
