SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a package with a coating, which is a container for food products or beverages, and to a method of coating the package. Coating applied on package surface is produced from composition containing (i) carboxyl-containing polymer, comprising a (meth)acrylic polymer containing a carboxyl group, or a polyester polymer containing a carboxyl group, or mixtures thereof; and (ii) polycarbodiimide having the following structural units (a) or (b), including mixtures thereof, where e is integer from 2 to 20; f and g represent at least 1, and f+g represent an integer up to 20; E is a radical selected from and , where R2 includes a cyclic radical and R3 is a linear hydrocarbon radical, containing at least 4 carbon atoms, and R4 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical. Method of applying a coating composition onto a package comprises (a) obtaining the above coating composition, (b) applying the composition to the surface of the substrate before or after forming the substrate in the package or part thereof; (c) heating the substrate with the composition to temperature and for a time sufficient for crosslinking the composition.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a coating with high adhesion, flexibility and resistance to acidic products or beverages.
