FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital signal processing. Method of detecting a TV channel logo in a television broadcast involves creating and storing an image of a logo template, searching for it in a given search area of the obtained image. Pre-processing the obtained image and the template image; if the normalized percentage of similar points in the entire search region is greater than a given value, a conclusion is made on the possible presence on the frame of the received image of the television channel logo. Thereafter, the search area is divided into several zones, within which several windows with a reduced scale are selected. For each zone, average correlation coefficient is calculated for windows with different scales. If for each zone the coefficient is higher than the set value, then the comparison is carried out for the centre of the given search area and the template image reduced by several times compared to the original size, in case the correlation coefficient is higher than the specified value, a conclusion is made on presence of the TV channel logo on the frame of the obtained image.

EFFECT: higher reliability and validity of detecting a television channel logo in translation with reduced time and power of used computing equipment.
