FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital signal processing. Method of detecting a TV channel logo in a television broadcast involves preliminary processing of the obtained image and a template image. In a given search region, a predetermined number of points is selected from a total number of pixels, for said points of the obtained image and corresponding points of the image of the pattern, calculating a product of percent match for each grey scale, if the obtained normalized percentage of similar points in the entire search region exceeds a given value, a conclusion is made on the availability of a TV channel logo on the frame. If said percentage is below preset value, data from two regions are processed next to given search area in same lines of frame, in which there are image points of template, for which corresponding values are determined, for each of which the degree of reliability is determined, if total reliability exceeds the specified value, conclusion is made on presence on the frame of TV channel logo.
EFFECT: high reliability and validity of a method of detecting a television channel logo in a television broadcast while reducing the time and power of the computing equipment used.
