FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to river and sea communications. Method consists in that by two laser beams generated by two beacons and turned in vertical direction, scanning the region in the direction from the corresponding boundary of the shunting strip to the outside by an angle sufficient for the navigator to perceive flashes from the beacon, and back to form two three-dimensional zones filled with laser radiation. Then, synchronous scanning is performed towards each other in azimuth plane with preset frequency with formation of three three-dimensional zones filled with laser radiation. Synchronous glow zone serves as a heading indicator. Asynchronous zones are used for evaluation of sign and degree of ship deviation from preset trajectory. Beacons are installed so that the projection of the section of the straight line on the perpendicular to the fairway axis is equal to the width of the shunting line. Each zone serves as signaling about the ship being at the boundary of the shunting line or outside it.
EFFECT: providing navigator with possibility of vessel retention in fairway within boundaries of orientation zone throughout ship stroke.
