FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to virology and medical examination, and aims at quantitative determination of viral infection of spermatozoa. DNA is recovered from a sperm sample. A quantitative polymerase chain reaction is carried out with real-time registration and normalization of the obtained data with the help of NOG and BMP4 primers to obtain the average content of viral DNA on the spermatozoon. Share of infected spermatozoons is determined by electron microscopic examination of spermatozoons to obtain a percentage of infected spermatozoa. Viral load is calculated on infected sperm cell L by formula L=100×N/E.
EFFECT: invention provides simplifying and accelerating preparation of DNA samples from a sperm sample; simpler and cheaper PCR procedure; high accuracy of quantitative assessment of viral load; applicability to any DNA-containing virus; quantitative determination of viral load in all sperm cells irrespective of their type.
