FIELD: electrical communication engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and device for communication. Method comprises: starting a random access procedure on user equipment; switching on user equipment from a first portion of an uplink bandwidth which does not support a random access channel, to the uplink bandwidth second part, which comprises a random access channel, configured after the random access procedure is started, wherein the switching is performed independently by the user equipment; and performing random access procedure on user equipment using random access channel, configured on second part of uplink bandwidth.
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency and throughput of network.
