FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of beryllium foil, which is used in various industries. Method of producing thin vacuum beryllium foil involves beryllium billets in metal cover, sealing, heating to rolling temperature, multi-pass rolling of beryllium workpiece in metal cover with intermediate exposures, cooling and removal of cover. Beryllium billet is represented by distilled beryllium, and the jacket material is represented by stainless steel plates, wherein beryllium blank in jacket is heated to rolling temperature of 450–550 °C and multi-pass rolling is performed with relative reduction from 1 to 7 % per pass. After each passage, holding is performed for 1–15 minutes and rolling direction is changed by 180° after each passage to achieve a total degree of deformation of 60 %.
EFFECT: obtained foil has high chemical purity, vacuum density and transparency for X-ray radiation.
