FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to culture media for embryos, gametes and stem cells, as well as to treatment and/or manipulation and/or cultivation, reducing or preventing oxidative stress and/or formation of free radicals, and/or increasing the level of antioxidant capacity in stem cells, gametes and embryos for IVF. Culture medium contains acetylcarnitine in concentration of 5 to 50 mcmol and lipoic acid or its derivative in concentration of 2.5 to 40 mcmol. Methods involve treatment and/or manipulation, and/or culturing of stem cells, gametes and embryos for IVF in the specified medium.
EFFECT: invention allows to produce embryos with significantly increased number of blastocyst cells by reducing or preventing oxidative stress, formation of free radicals and high antioxidant activity.
