SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing an oxidatively curable coating composition formed from an alkyd based oxidatively curable resin, a complex, containing one or more manganese ions and one or more triazacyclononane-based ligands; and use of triazacyclononane-based ligands to accelerate the alkyd resin-based resin hardening rate under the effect of such complexes. Described is a method of producing an oxidation-curable composition, involving bringing into contact: (i) an alkyd-based resin, to which one or more manganese ions with oxidation degrees independently selected from (II)–(V), in combination with at least one chelating agent based on non-triazacyclononane, have been previously added, forming a chelate using either nitrogen atoms, or nitrogen and oxygen atoms, or a triazacyclononane chelating agent having only hydrogen substitutes at nitrogen atoms in the ring, where said combination of one or more manganese ions with at least one chelating agent based on non-triazacyclononane or triazacyclononane chelate, having only hydrogen substitutes at nitrogen atoms in ring, forms first complex; (ii) with at least one chelating agent of formula (I): (I), where: Q = ; p is 3; R is independently selected from a group consisting of C1-24 alkyl, C6-18 aryl, C6-18 aryl C1-6 alkyl, CH2CH2OH and CH2COOH; and R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from H, C1-4 alkyl and hydroxy (C1-4 alkyl); and (iii) to form a second complex containing one or more manganese ions having oxidation degrees independently selected from (II)–(V), and a chelating agent of formula (I), forming a chelate using either nitrogen atoms or nitrogen and oxygen atoms, (iv) and additionally, where formula (I) is 1,4,7-C1-10alkyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane, provided that that: (1) complex does not contain two manganese ions linked by a bridge using three ligands, at least one of which is a bridge ligand of oxo (O2−); and (2) first complex does not contain chelating agent of formula (I). Also described is a method for increasing the rate of hardening a composition of alkyd-based resin under the effect of a complex.

EFFECT: obtaining siccatives with improved properties which do not contain cobalt based dehydrators, but which demonstrate acceptable curing rates.
