FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to metal processing and can be used in milling open grooves in thin walls of body parts on multi-coordinate machines with numerical program control (processing centres). Method of milling grooves in thin-walled parts involves using end mill, diameter of which is less than width of groove. At that, mill is installed perpendicular to part side surface and groove is cut from one side to another by cylindrical part of mill, moving it along the supply along the groove contour, after which the milling cutter is installed parallel to the side surface of the part and milled on the groove side passage, moving the milling cutter by the feed. Length of cutting part of cutter is selected not less than sum of depth of groove and thickness of part, and during milling of groove from one of its side to another cutter is installed, providing distance from its end to part of not less than depth of groove.
EFFECT: technical result of invention is higher resistance of mill and processing efficiency.
