SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vertical compact unit for conversion of cardboard, corrugated cardboard, thick paper and similar folded materials into workpieces for boxes and other packages. System which converts the folded material into packing workpieces includes a converting unit, which performs conversion functions, such as folding material cutting, folding and rippling, when the folded material moves through the cardboard plant in the first direction. Conversion unit can be mounted on frame so that converting unit is located above support surface. Unloading guide can change direction of fanfold from first direction to second, generally vertical direction after cardboard unit has performed functions of folded material conversion.
