FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to a method of blood pressure measurement. Cuff compressing the artery is placed on the forearm. Air is fed into the cuff and air is discharged to record the systolic and diastolic pressures, respectively, at the beginning and end of oscillations of the mercury column in the tube connected to the cuff. Light guide is placed into the tube with a core which is cleaned from the shell, light flux is passed through it and its value is monitored by conversion to an electrical signal. Signal is divided into constant and variable components. Decreasing value of the constant component is taken as the systolic pressure at appearance of the variable component and as the diastolic pressure at the disappearance of the latter.
EFFECT: broader functional capabilities and improved operational characteristics owing to automation of the measurement process and objectivity of its results.
