FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to organochlorine synthesis, specifically to a method of producing hexachloroethane by chlorination of perchlorethylene in presence of 1-2 wt % of anhydrous ferric chloride at temperature 100-110°C with subsequent extraction of end product by crystallisation and separation from queen cell by known methods. Reaction mass is cooled down to 70-90°C at the chlorination step and treated with quicklime with subsequent filtration at temperature of 70-90°C, obtained filtrate is subjected to crystallisation, and mother plant obtained after separation of end product is returned to chlorination step.
EFFECT: disclosed is a novel method of producing hexachloroethane, which enables to obtain an end product with high output, simple technique and reduced amount of wastes.
