FIELD: document security.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protective elements for security documents and to methods for their production. According to the method of manufacturing a protective element, comprising a substrate made from oriented plastic, and at least one layer of liquid crystals (13), applied and oriented on the substrate, adhesive primer (12) is applied before or after stretching the substrate in at least one direction, wherein said stretching allows bringing the substrate into an oriented state, and liquid crystals are applied by means of printing on said adhesive primer.
EFFECT: invention provides high protective effect and simplifies manufacturing of protective element.
