FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of making electric contact wire from heat-strengthened copper-based alloy. Method comprises feeding alloy into crystalliser, crystallising alloy in form of continuously cast billet, deforming said billet on rod, hardening, aging at 400–500 °C, forming electric contact wire. Quenching is carried out immediately after crystallisation at temperature of 900–1000 °C, deformation on rolled stock is carried out by radial reduction with total accumulated degree of deformation of not less than e = 1.5, and formation of electric-contact wire with shaped profile is carried out at successive combination in one operation of equal-channel angular pressing according to "Conform" scheme and extrusion at temperature not higher than 500 °C, wherein aging is carried out as a finish operation.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of physical and mechanical properties of wire while reducing costs for its production.
