FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for determining the heat conductivity of non-homogeneous solids, namely, the oxide crust formed on the surface of the melt of the core of a nuclear reactor and the interacting materials, and is applicable in nuclear power engineering, specifically, in testing of the safety of nuclear power plants (NPP) with light water nuclear reactors (LWR) in settings of a severe accident. A prototype melt bath is formed in the experimental unit, with a surface crust and a prototype gas medium over the crust, the thermal regime is stabilised, and the temperature of the outer surface of the crust is measured. The heat flux removed by radiation from the outer surface of the crust is determined, and the temperature of the inner surface of the crust is determined as the liquidus temperature of the melt. The melt is then discharged, the thickness of the crust is measured, and the heat conductivity of the crust is calculated based on the dependency for steady-state heat conductivity through a flat plate.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of determining the heat conductivity of the crust.
