FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of refractory materials and can be used for production of ceramic units of high-temperature aggregates, ammunition, crucibles, boxes, protective cups, moulds operating at temperatures up to 1750 °C. Crude mixture for making refractory articles contains the following components, wt. %: alumina water slurry based on corundum fractions of less than 0.05 mm 35–40, granular aggregate containing fractions of electrocorundum 0.5–0.8 mm 8–10, fused mullite 0.4–2.5 mm 36–41 and fraction of electrocorundum 0.125–0.15 mm 11–14. Slurry has viscosity of 20–30 °E, the residue on sieve 005 is 0.1–1.0 wt. % and pH 10.2–11.2.
EFFECT: reduced stratification of crude mixture during moulding of large-size refractory articles (more than 100 mm in height) due to increased sedimentation stability, increased equal density, operational reliability of refractory materials, as well as reduction of rejects during their production.
