FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and power electronics. It can be used to control reactive power sources based on thyristor converters. A capacitor group is switched by thyristors and contains parallel-connected branches. Each branch consists of a capacitor and a thyristor that are connected to each other. There is an additional thyristor or diode in the opposite direction, while one of the common points of connection of the parallel branches is connected to the first terminal of the capacitor group. The second common point of connection of parallel branches, not connected to the first terminal of the capacitor group, is connected to the second terminal of the capacitor group by means of a controlled switch. A bidirectional thyristor switch is connected to the controlled switch formed by anti-parallel connected thyristors.
EFFECT: invention increases reliability of capacitor groups switched by thyristors. It also improves technical and economic indicators by excluding current-limiting equipment.
