SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical equipment and power electronics, and can be used for the built on the thyristor converters basis reactive power sources control. Switched by the thyristors capacitor group, containing the current-limiting reactor and two branches, each of which consists of in-series connected bidirectional thyristor switch and a capacitor, is implemented in such a way that each branch contains the in-series connected additional bidirectional thyristor switch, at that, the branches are connected in parallel in such a way that one of the additional bidirectional thyristor switches terminals are connected to the parallel branches opposite terminals, and between the branches additional bidirectional thyristor switches other terminals an auxiliary bidirectional thyristor switch is connected, at that, the parallel branches are connected to the capacitor group terminals in series to the current-limiting reactor, wherein, in addition to having the bidirectional thyristor switch and capacitor serial connection branches, any number of additional branches containing the bidirectional thyristor switch and capacitor serial connection are connected in parallel.

EFFECT: enabling increase in the capacitor group capacity control discreteness, decrease in the circuit reactive elements total installed power, decrease in the weight and dimensional parameters, and increase in the device as a whole reliability, as compared with the prototypes with the same number of included in its composition capacitors.
