FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and power electronics and can be used to control sources of reactive power in power systems. Capacitance of controlled capacitor groups is controlled by varying the thyristor states of the bidirectional thyristor keys, thereby recording the voltage polarity sign changes on the controlled capacitor group, transmitting residual energy accumulated in capacitors to current-limiting reactor by including corresponding thyristors, which are part of controlled thyristor keys of controlled capacitor group, performing energy recovery accumulated in current-limiting reactor, into network of alternating sinusoidal voltage by connection of corresponding thyristors, which are part of controlled thyristor keys of controlled capacitor group, wherein energy recovery process accumulated in capacitor banks by the moment of formation of current capacitance formation termination, into network of alternating sinusoidal voltage is gradually repeating for all capacitor banks, which are part of controlled capacitor group. In case capacitor banks are connected in parallel to its output when generating new value of capacitance of controlled condenser group, recuperation process is not performed.
EFFECT: technical result of invention is increase of control efficiency by capacity of capacitor groups; in addition, the disclosed method provides higher efficiency of the controlled capacitor group as a whole.
