FIELD: construction industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for manufacturing a component for the automotive industry, or for the production of household electrical appliances, or for the development of mechanical equipment, or for the construction industry. The method for manufacturing the component includes cutting to size a steel billet at ambient temperature from a strip or sheet of steel. The steel billet in the cut-hardened edge areas is subject to the first forming operation at ambient temperature to obtain a preformed contour. The edge regions of the workpiece are heat treated at a temperature of at least 600 °C for a period of not more than 10 seconds. The edge regions of the preform at any time after said heat treatment are subjected to a second shaping operation at ambient temperature. The invention also includes the use of a steel billet.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to achieve increased deformability and reduced sensitivity to cracking of the edge regions of the steel workpiece.
