FIELD: electrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fuel cell and a method of its production. The fuel cell contains a membrane electrode assembly with electrodes located on both surfaces of the electrolyte membrane, a gas diffusion layer laid on one of the membrane electrode assembly surfaces, a polymer frame mounted on one of the membrane electrode assembly surfaces so that it surrounds the outer peripheral surface of the gas diffusion layer at some distance from the outer peripheral surface of the gas diffusion layer, and a polymer sheet located between the gas diffusion layer and the polymer framework on one side and the membrane electrode assembly on the other side in order to fill the gap between the inner peripheral surface of the polymer framework and the outer peripheral surface of the gas diffusion layer.
EFFECT: invention increases the service life of the membrane electrode assembly.
