The porous carrier system for reducing the release of formaldehyde in the wood-based material contains formaldehyde-binding agent A and hydroxide-releasing agent B. The amount of substance A is from 1-70 wt. %, calculating the total mass of the dry filled material of the porous carrier A. The amount of substance B is from 1-70 wt. %, calculating the total mass of the dry filled material of the porous carrier A. The amount of substance B is from 1-70 wt. %, calculating the total mass of the dry filled material of the porous carrier B. Methods for producing a porous carrier system, the use of a porous carrier system to reduce the release of formaldehyde in a wood-based material, a wood-based material containing a porous carrier system, and a method for producing a wood-based material are also presented.
