FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for thermographic control based on directed waves. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that the transmitted sound or ultrasonic energy is transmitted from one or more elements of the converter to the structure and in response to one or more signals supplied to at least one of the transducer elements; controlling the relative phase of the supplied signals based on the first predetermined phasing vector; performing a collision with a structural defect when transmitting directional sound or ultrasound energy; detecting a heat response indicative of a defect and occurring as a result of collision of directed sound or ultrasonic energy near the defect, and central frequency of supplied signals is changed in specified frequency range by supplying a series of pulses having different central frequencies.
EFFECT: technical result is providing increased coating of ultrasonic energy on structure, as well as providing maximization of response to vibration.
