FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of photonics, micro- and nano-optics, in particular to methods and devices for obtaining stretched optical fiber, which can be used in DWDM communication, sensors based on optical fibers, in the process of generating a supercontinuum, for exciting whispering-gallery modes in optical microresonators. Said method of optical fiber adiabatic stretching includes positioning the stretched section above the heating system in the form of discrete electric heaters, fixing its ends on movable supports, controlled heating by independent supplying power to electric heaters and stretching the specified section, as well as controlling the stretching process. During heating, the electric heaters are periodically swung along the stretched section of the optic fiber at a speed not exceeding 3 mm / s2 and a rotational acceleration of at least 1 mm / s2, and during the control, the current geometry of the optic fiber stretched section is determined and, in case of sagging, the swing amplitude is increased and / or the power supplied to the electric heaters is reduced. The optical fiber stretching device contains a common base whereon two movable supports with clamps are installed, at least one of which is equipped with a strain sensor that provides the ability to measure the optical fiber tension, a heating system with a positioning unit located between the specified supports, and a stretching control system with a control unit connected to movable supports and the strain sensor. The heating system is formed by glow plugs independently connected to the control unit and mounted on a single positioning unit in the form of a motorized feed, which is also connected to the control unit and is configured to periodically swing the plugs along the stretched section of the optic fiber.
EFFECT: improved quality of obtained stretched sections of the optical fiber and repeatability of their specified characteristics.
