SUBSTANCE: method consists in measuring longitudinal stretching forces by strain gage transducer that are applied to wire, measuring of wire temperature, measurement values are transmitted to central point by radio channel or fiber-optics, note that power supply is provided by power source, according to the invention as an elastic element of strain gage transducer of measuring longitudinal stretching forces applied to wire there used is a segment of controlled wire of overhead electric line and ice presence is determined by the values of longitudinal stretching forces applied to wire and wire temperature, note that power supply is provided by potential transformer, the primary winding of which is represented by controlled wire itself that conducts operating current.

EFFECT: increase of reliability of ice determination on wires of overhead electric line through direct measurement of longitudinal stretching forces applied to wire of electric line, wire temperature control, receiving power directly from controlled wire itself.
