SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for early diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). A study of blood serum is carried out. In patients over 18 years of age who do not require hemodialysis, do not have acute conditions at the time of observation, pregnancy, lactation, the expression of the Secreted Frizzled Related Protein-4 (SFRP4) protein in the blood serum is determined by enzyme immunoassay. At a concentration of SFRP4 in the range of 10.6–39.8 ng/ml, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method enables early diagnosis of NAFLD and increase in the rate of its determination in patients in wide practice, increase in availability and ease of execution with high sensitivity, specificity and efficiency, due to the determination of SFRP4 protein expression in the blood, which will allow to start treatment of the pathology earlier, delay or prevent the development complications associated with this disease, and therefore reduce the prevalence of NAFLD in the population.
