FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water-swellable elastomeric materials and can be used in production of rubber swellable packing elements of packer equipment used in oil and gas industry. Water-swellable elastomeric composition based on carboxylate butadiene-nitrile rubber containing 26 wt% links of acrylonitrile and 7 wt% carboxyl groups, including a vulcanising agent, mercaptan series vulcanisation accelerators, vulcanisation activators, a dispersing agent, fillers, water-swellable reagents, in following proportions, pts.wt: carboxylate butadiene-nitrile rubber - 100.0; BS-120 - 10.0; TU P234 - 30.0; zinc oxide - 5.0; stearin - 1.0; glycerine - 2.0; sulfur - 2.0; altax - 1.0; captax - 1.0; copolymer of acrylamide with potassium acrylate - 100.0; sodium-carboxymethyl cellulose - 100.0.

EFFECT: higher strength of the elastomeric material before and after exposure to fresh water and aqueous solutions of sodium chloride and wider range of water-swellable elastomeric materials.
