FIELD: bullet production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing a steel core blank for an armor-piercing incendiary bullet. The method involves loading a rod into a press container containing a matrix with a channel with a variable cross-section and a punch and its subsequent cooling plastic deformation by moving through the channel of the matrix. The rod is moved through the channel of the matrix by pushing said rod by means of a punch, wherein the channel of the matrix is transversally cross-sected at the inlet in the form of a circle with a radius of r1 (fig. 1, А-А) which changes to an elliptic cross-section with the semiaxes a and b (fig. 1, B-B), then to an elliptic cross-section with the semiaxes a and b turned at 90° (fig. 1, C-C), and at the output of a blank produced from the rod, the cross-section of the channel is made in the form of a circle with a radius r2 (fig. 1, D-D), wherein r1= r2 and the area of each section is formed in such a way that they are equal to each other.
EFFECT: technical result consists in providing necessary viscosity in combination with the hardness and in reducing the number of chips when punching the barrier.
