FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacture of rounds for small arms, particularly armor-piercing cores from high-carbon tool steel. Elongated billet is cut. Biller central part is sheeted and divided into two identical stepped preforms. Then said preforms are stamped in one stroke of the tool in stamping tool. Final geometry of curvilinear and tail parts of the core are shaped. Preforms steps are consecutively deformed. Core head part is first deformed. Then transition of core curvilinear part into cylindrical part is performed. Now, core tail part shaping is completed.
EFFECT: reduced load on tool, higher strength of core, reduced production costs.
