SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of geophysics and can be used in conducting marine seismic exploration works. The seismic device includes one or more seismic cable systems designed to record seismic data, while each seismic cable system has one or more cable sheaths, a reservoir for a ballast fluid or other ballast medium, and an actuator or other transfer mechanism, designed to move the ballast fluid medium between the reservoir and the seismic cable system during seismic data recording, for example, when the ballast fluid medium moves to the seismic cable system into the cable sheath. The controller can be configured to control the buoyancy of a seismic cable system that is sensitive to the movement of the ballast fluid medium, for example, when the internal volume expands or contracts based on the fluid movement.
