FIELD: medical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical technology. A non-invasive test device is described for determining the concentration of a target substance (such as blood sugar, blood alcohol, cholesterol, etc.) in a patient's blood. The device includes applying an RF output signal to the patient's skin through an antenna and measuring the amplitude and phase of the response signal, which is a function of the RF output signal modified by interaction with the patient's blood. The device takes measurements at different RF output frequencies and displays the response as a frequency function. The invention is essentially characterized by obtaining various derived parameters from the shape of the resulting plots, namely any or more of the following: resonant frequency shift; Q-factor (quality factor) of resonance; group delay; phase shift; change in amplitude; graph form factor; and the gradient of the graph at different frequencies.
