SUBSTANCE: body-worn medical device, such as a system for monitoring an analyte in a body fluid or a patch-mounted pump for administering a drug to a user, contains a self-adhesive flexible electronic patch that adheres to the user's skin, is capable of deforming to follow the contour of the skin, and contains a flexible printed circuit, printed directly on a film substrate. Moreover, the medical device worn on the body contains a user interface allowing the user to control the device, and the film substrate is capable of stretching in at least one direction by more than 20% of its original length. Moreover, the transfer of data between the flexible printed circuit and the user interface is provided by conductive textiles. The method for controlling a body-worn medical device includes the following steps: i) adhering a self-adhesive flexible electronic patch to the user's skin, ii) controlling the device by the user through a user interface.
EFFECT: use of this group of inventions will allow the user to wear a medical device for a long time with increased comfort.
