SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to diagnostic medicine and reveals a method for determining the activity of fat processing and a method for predicting the risk of obesity in a subject. Methods include determining the level of proneurotensin or its fragments of at least 5 amino acids in length in the biological fluid, comparing the obtained level of proneurotensin or its fragments with the activity of fat processing and/or the risk of obesity in the specified subject, where an increased level indicates an increased activity of fat processing and/or predicts an increased risk of obesity.
EFFECT: said group of inventions makes it possible to determine the activity of fat processing and to identify subjects with a predisposition to the development of obesity.
