SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. Disclosed is a method for predicting the risk of developing breast cancer in an individual who does not suffer from breast cancer. Level of Pro-Tachykinin comprising a sequence of SEQ ID NO 2, or splice variants thereof, comprising sequences SEQ ID NOs 8–11. Above level of Pro-Tachykinin or its splicing variants is correlated with a risk of developing breast cancer. Low level relative to threshold value is prognostic criterion of increased risk of breast cancer.
EFFECT: invention provides effective prediction of the risk of developing breast cancer in an individual.
