FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used for shaping beam end sections with C-shaped cross-section. Local end of billet is locally heated to temperature of hot forming. Billet is fed into die, where clamp is lowered on its wall. Then, as the matrix moves down, the opposite shelves of the workpiece are pressed against the mandrel, having a size reduced by a given value relative to the initial size of the beam. Thus, billet end section cross-section size is changed at preset length. At the final stage of machining, the end allowance is removed in the die for residual temperature of the treated end section of the billet with simultaneous formation on its external angles of two chamfers with the size of c×45°.
EFFECT: result is flatness of beam wall at processed end sections.
