FIELD: IT.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for controlling the size of the buffer memory when transmitting streaming video traffic. The implementation of the proposed method presupposes the placement of video information on the server, which is transmitted as segments at the request of the client and is located in its buffer memory. The demand rate is controlled by a control parameter. The control parameter is a function of two variables: the mismatch of the buffer size and the difference between the buffer sizes at the intervals between adjacent requests. The specified difference is taken as the rate of change of the buffer size at the i-th stage. All values of the parameters included in the function depend only on the state of the system at the previous stages.
EFFECT: ensuring that the size of the buffer is maintained within the specified limits relative to the nominal value.
